Katie, our host is also a co-founder of She Speaks Stories! She started our podcast with Susan Wanderer in 2017, with the hope that stories could change lives. And over the years they have seen this to be true! Katie is a friend to all and an enthusiastic reader, writer, and life-giving Bible teacher. She takes on the podcast like we're sitting around a kitchen table talking and invites all to join in as part of the conversation! She has so much wisdom and insight, born into a newspaper editor’s family, she married a Marine, became mom to four grown-up kids & MIL to three beauties. Today she’s known as Grandma to 5 under 5. Jesus is the light of her life.
Julia Sifers
Julia is a wife to a barrel chested freedom fighter (aka an Infantry officer in the Army). They're bffs and raise their four kids with the family motto: "we play." As a homeschool mom, Julia spends pretty much all day with her four wild things, learning, discovering, making messes and cleaning them up. In her free time, she's the Jack of All Trades to our podcast. You'll find Julia hosting, curating, designing and content-writing... She's happy to help and do whatever she can to promote sharing stories, because she truly believes that Stories Change Lives!
Dawn Groves
Her life is full as she is happily married to Brian, mother to three daughters, and NorthStar Women's Network's Assistant to the Executive Director. We are thankful she is also our technology guru, because Dawn is literally the backbone of She Speaks Stories! Technically, she is our Scheduling Manager, but she is so much more! She faithfully supports the podcast with her endless skills in all things zoom & excel. She keeps the team organized and functioning with a steady smile! Her servant's heart is a testimony of her love for Jesus.
How It All Started
A Little She Speaks Stories History
Susan says to Katie, “We should start a podcast!”
Katie replies, “You mean like a radio show?”
And so She Speaks Stories was born. These two gals had so much fun for 26 episodes, but on the 27th they met the someone who was everything they didn’t know their podcast always wanted: The Portia.
Portia, Susan and Katie welcomed more than 150 other storytellers including one they all liked a bunch: Julia. God’s timing is perfect and when Julia came she brought a source of energy and fun, which was just what they needed because although the four gals joined forces for a time, and had an absolute blast, as timing would have it, Susan and Portia were gifted to other callings elsewhere.
Though they stepped down as hosts for our podcast, they will both forever be the OG’s of She Speaks Stories and whenever you need to hear Susan’s iconic laugh or Portia’s warm wisdom, they’re only an episode click away!
And now, Katie & Julia (who have known each other literally since Julia was born) are kindred spirits and excited to keep on sharing stories! Because...Stories Change Lives!
